PROFILE

• State Premium Tax Recoveries was founded in 2004 when W. Lee James began a consulting practice to use his vast knowledge and experience with premium taxation to assist insurance companies in minimizing their tax liabilities.                                                                                                                                                  
  

• Prior to State Premium Tax Recoveries Lee was employed by Torchmark Corporation as the State Tax Manager.  The more than 35 years that Lee worked in this and other positions within Torchmark or its subsidiaries provided the experience to gain his extensive knowledge about the many complications in minimizing state premium taxes in all 50 states.                                                                                                                                                                                           
  

• He and his staff now use this knowledge and experience with extensive company specific research to determine if premium tax refunds are available and if ongoing future annual savings can be realized.                                                                    
  

• Since 2004, SPTR has assisted numerous clients in obtaining refunds exceeding $100,000,000 and in implementing changes resulting in ongoing annual savings.                                                                                                                             
  

• Successfully performed on-site reviews for clients which resulted in additional refunds and future savings beyond those savings initially located.                                                                                                                                                                      
  

• Instrumental in implementing various insurance premium tax statutes for the State of Alabama.
